Supervisors
Accept Resignation, Okay New Hire
Posted 07 November 2008
Members of the Allamakee County
Board of Supervisors, in regular session earlier this week on Monday,
Nov. 3, accepted a letter of resignation from a member of the county's
sheriff's department and okayed a new hire in the county's secondary
roads department.
Sheriff Tim Heiderscheit presented the board with a letter of
resignation from Jerry Valley, effective Dec. 31. Valley plans to
retire at the end of this year. Heiderscheit noted that Valley's last
day of work will be at the end of November due to vacation time and
other considerations. Due to budget considerations, the Sheriff's
Department will not immediately seek a replacement.
County Engineer Brian Ridenour reported the hiring of Delbert Wilkins
at $14.99 per hour as an equipment operator for the Secondary Roads
Department. The board approved the hiring. Wilkins will begin working
for the county Nov. 17.
Ridenour presented the supervisors with bids for a diesel pick-up for
the Waukon Shop. The board voted to accept the low bid of $32,573 from
Torkelson Motors in Waukon for a one-ton Dodge pickup.
Kim Waters and Jan Heikes of the CPC provided updates to the board.
Waters informed those in attendance about a new 15-minute interval time
report now required for reimbursement from the State of Iowa. Heikes
updated the Board on long-term disaster recovery efforts from this past
summer's flooding and planning for future disasters.
In other business, the board accepted a court-ordered tax abatement for
Northern Engraving in Waukon.
