Terrace
Hill Cookbook Available
Posted 08 November 2008
Iowa's First Lady Mari Culver has
introduced "Entertaining at Terrace Hill." Just in time for the
holidays, this beautiful cookbook, a FSC-certified "green" publication,
features over 200 delectable recipes from around the state and
eye-catching displays of food photographed at Terrace Hill.
The new cookbook includes recollections by F. M. Hubbell family
descendents who were part of the Terrace Hill legacy for many years
before the home was gifted to the state. Family photographs and
pictures of antique treasures owned by the Hubbells, many of which have
not been seen before, are interwoven in the cookbook.
First Lady Mari Culver said, "The Governor and I are pleased to share
the rich tradition of Terrace Hill, the people’s house, with so many
Iowans. We are the fourth First Family to have the privilege of living
at Terrace Hill and we are proud to call it home. I hope Iowans enjoy
the delicious recipes featured in 'Entertaining at Terrace Hill' as
much as we do."
"Entertaining at Terrace Hill" is the latest in the series of Iowa
First Lady cookbooks. Beginning in 1979 with First Lady Billie Ray and
followed by those of Chris Branstad and Christie Vilsack, each has
enjoyed great popularity. The Mari Culver edition will be no exception.
Proceeds from the cookbooks benefit the Terrace Hill Society, a
non-profit membership organization that is responsible for the
renovation and preservation of the mansion and its large formal
gardens. Each cookbook provides an indispensable link between the
historic home and its modern occupants, the Governor and his family.
"Entertaining at Terrace Hill" can be purchased for $27.50 and is
available statewide in bookstores, specialty gift shops, and at Terrace
Hill's gift shop. Orders can be placed at THSociety@aol.com or at www.terracehill.org
or by calling (515)
242-6317.
